About the Event
As part of a Smithsonian tour to experience the Total Solar Eclipse July 2, 2019, Anita’s group was pretty much guaranteed an educational immersion. They were led by one of NASA’s super stars, Astrophysicist, Michelle Thaller and her husband, also an astrophysicist as well as an engineer, Andrew Booth. The group spent most of their time in the driest place on earth, the ATACAMA Desert, visiting observatories located on mountain tops and learning about how important Chile is in the world of astronomy. Within a decade, 80 percent of astronomical research will be done in Chile due to its perfect conditions.
