In China, the history of gardens goes back to at least 300 BC, with the search for immortality and the principles of interacting with the forces of nature. Chinese gardens seek to bring the wonders of nature home – for reflection, inspiration, and respite. Betsy will take us to some of the extant imperial gardens as well as the more intimate scholar gardens of the eastern provinces.
