The Untold Story of Creating a Nature Refuge in Remote Tanzania – Judi Wineland

Judi Wineland and her husband, Rick Thomson, embarked on an extraordinary journey to create a safari company in Tanzania with a mission to benefit the country, its people, and its wildlife.  They built their company on the foundation of sustainable tourism, investing deeply to ensure they could oversee every aspect of their operations. In 2006, their vision took a monumental step forward with the purchase of a title deed for 10,000 acres of land in the Serengeti Ecosystem.  Surrounded by Maasai communities, this land was transformed into a Nature Refuge – a sanctuary designed to protect wildlife, support local communities, and offer travelers a unique opportunity to experience nature on foot while engaging authentically with the Maasai. 

 

But their mission soon faced relentless challenges.  Judi and Rick were met with false accusations, damaging social media…
