About the Event
2pm Tea and Refreshments
Polly Cronin and husband Philip visited Syria in September 2010. Much of what they saw there then is not there now. In 2011, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, a self-appointed dictator, responded to uprisings with widespread bombings of civilians with chorine gas and ancient World Heritage sites with explosives. Despite UNESCO efforts to restore those sites, most remain lost. The US government website counsels, “Do not travel to Syria, due to terrorism, civil unrest, kidnapping, and armed conflict. No part of Syria is safe from significant risk of death or serious injury.” If you have never been to Syria, this may be your opportunity.
Please RSVP online if you have created your own individual login. As a backup, RSVP by email to Ginny Welles firstname.lastname@example.org or call her at 781-771-1591 (cell).
