Rio to Santiago:  A South American Adventure – JoAnn Pierson 

In October 2023, JoAnn and her partner Mark began their three-week journey in South America on the shores of Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, where the lively rhythm of Brazil set the tone for their entire trip.  From there, the adventure rose high above the city with a visit to the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue, offering sweeping views of Rio’s dramatic coastline.  A behind-the-scenes tour of a Carnaval Float Warehouse provided a fascinating look at the artistry and energy behind one of the world’s most famous celebrations. Leaving Rio, the trip continued to the spectacular Iguassu Falls, experienced from both the Brazilian and Argentinian sides, each offering its own breathtaking perspective of the vast cascades.  The next stop was Buenos Aires, where history and culture came alive at the Casa Rosada and along the vibrant, colorful streets of La Boca’s artist district.  The adventure the…
