About the Event
Pole Pole: Tales from Kilimanjaro
Kilimanjaro, in Tanzania, is the fourth most topographically prominent peak on Earth and the largest peak in Africa. It has been romanticized in The Snows of Kilimanjaro, but those snows, actually glacier fields, have long been dwindling and are projected to disappear between 2025 and 2035. In February 2010, Agnes Wiggin and her daughter Allison were planning a trip to South Africa but instead ended up climbing Kilimanjaro. How did that happen? Come to Agnes’ presentation to find out and hear the story of their climb.
