From Denver to Tierra del Fuego – Ginny Welles
In 1977-78, Ginny took a nine-month trip and drove with a friend in her Volkswagen Van from Denver, Colorado to Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego and back as far as Santiago, Chile. It was before the PanAmerican Highway was completed that these two young women drove 24,000 miles – just 1,000 miles shy of the circumference of the Earth – in their effort to circumnavigate the South American continent. On her return, Ginny carefully culled and labeled her slides and has now created a retrospective on the trials, challenges, and highlights of her travel of five decades ago.
