About the Event

Bluebonnets, Boots, and Barbeque:  Revisiting the Nature, History, and Culture of Texas – Sylvia Topp and Sally Cheffy

Bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush in abundance, Spanish Mission architecture, imaginative light shows, street art, BBQ and Tex-Mex cuisine, and a canal boat ride were among the many delights experienced by four members of the Women’s Travel Club on a Road Scholar trip to Texas in March of 2024.  The journey began in historic San Antonio and continued to Fredericksburg in the Hill Country and Austin with its vibrant music scene.  This educational journey also included visits to the LBJ Ranch and Library, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, and the historic Menger and Driskill Hotels.  It was a multifaceted adventure exploring nature, various cultural influences, current politics, history, and art.  Please join Sylvia and Sally as they share their experiences exploring Texas and traveling with Club members, and perhaps you will be inspired…
